It is an honor to begin serving as editor of Utilitas. As I do so, I would like to mention several people whose prior and ongoing work for the journal deserves special recognition.

First, Dale Miller served as editor for the past six years. He leaves behind a journal that has a clear mission as the premier venue specializing in the publication of work on consequentialist thought (both historical and contemporary), enjoys a robust stream of submissions, and reliably provides authors with timely and meaningful feedback. I would also like to thank Dale for his unfailing generosity in providing information and advice to me during the period of transition from his editorship to mine.

Second, I would like to thank Dale's predecessors in the role of editor – Brad Hooker, Paul Kelly, Roger Crisp, and Fred Rosen. Their leadership of the journal, dating back to its founding in 1989, continues to benefit not only their successors but also the academic community that the journal serves.

Finally, I would like to mention several people whom I am pleased to join in administering the journal. David Weinstein is the journal's book review editor; having served in this role since 2006, he has provided valuable continuity through several editor transitions. Hani Abdellatif provides critical assistance as managing editor, as does Nigel Hope as copy-editor. Finally, I have quickly become acquainted with the multifaceted expertise of the team of professionals at Cambridge University Press who provide the business and technical infrastructure needed to produce a journal that can thrive in today's scholarly and economic environment. I look forward to working with all of these talented individuals.
