Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the utilization of online databases among the faculty members at Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) in Peechi, Thrissur. A questionnaire was distributed to the 28 faculty members in the institution to gather data on their use and experiences with online databases. The findings revealed that the most frequently utilized online databases by KFRI faculty were CABI and Scopus. However, the study also identified challenges such as licensing issues, insufficient library resources, technical system faults, and networking problems that affected the use of online databases. Faculty members expressed the importance of databases like AGRIS, Web of Science, and CABI for their research work. These findings shed light on the current information landscape within KFRI and emphasize the need to address the challenges faced in accessing and utilizing online databases. The study provides insights for library professionals and decision-makers in improving the availability and accessibility of online databases to support faculty research at KFRI and similar institutions.
