Bray library

[415] There were sixty-four books in stock. An increase of £1 in subscriptions was asked for and seconded by E. B. Glass. Carried.

Clergy celebrating daily communion in the cathedral

On [414] it was stated that the policy of getting clergy to rotate at taking daily communion services in the cathedral had been discontinued as the disruption to their daily routine was not justified.

Faculties

On [419] J. D. Gelling suggested a modification to the faculty system, especially for minor things.

Chapter courts

It was proposed by the archdeacon and carried with two abstentions that there should be only one chapter court, with a more religious outlook.

Chapter courts

On [430] the vicar general reported that chapter courts had been altered to being held in a central place of worship in each deanery.

Bray library

[431] The account had been transferred to another bank to escape charges. No figures are recorded.

Burials bill

[432] The convocation wrote to Tynwald about the proposed burials bill and asked that the rules regarding sextons not be altered as was proposed, owing to difficulties in recruiting and paying suitable people.

[452] There was a closing balance of £63.76.

Diocesan surveyor

On [458] it was reported that the diocesan architect would continue to inspect beneficed houses, but because of insurance problems he no longer inspected churches.

Funeral and wedding fees

E. B. Gregory drew attention to the question of funeral fees for non-stipendiary ministers. Increased marriage fees were also discussed.

[459-61] Extraordinary meeting held at St George's Douglas on 22 November 1986. The only item was to receive the resignation of the diocesan surveyor, David Bush and elect his successor. Mr Bush had served since 1976. Mr C. W. Kinrade was elected to succeed him.
