Summary
Tomorrow
but only in his mind
he'll draw me eyelashes
glue hair to my skull
will sew me a tunic to measure and thong sandals for my narrow feet
Tomorrow
the archaeologist will announce his discovery to the four winds
will describe me as a Cycladic idol possessed of great powers
alive despite all appearances
with knowledge surpassing that of the pebbles on the roads
he will read the holes in my torso
an alphabet of wishes and regret
although only the wind could write at that time
it wrote and erased the sentences scribbled on the un-margined pages of the sea
My arms crossed on myself
I am my own cage
at once prison and prisoner […]
