Although drug, smoking and alcohol education and awareness is part of the PSHE curriculum, it is by no means confined to classroom learning. There are many good resources available from organisations such as Childline to share and discuss with children and young people at home.

This has interviews with 33 young people about their experiences of and opinion on recreational drugs and alcohol. It looks at the issues surrounding why young people use drugs and alcohol. Useful for discussions. Also provides signposting to other organisations for help and information.

This is designed for young people and has a comprehensive A–Z list of drugs. For each, it gives an explanation of what the drug is, slang or street names, the effects, the chances of getting hooked, the law, the appearance and use, the cost, purity and risks. It also signposts young people to where they can get help or simply chat. Excellent.

An excellent site, packed with information and advice on drugs in Scotland. It has an A–Z list of drugs. Excellent.
