Get access

Summary

Now that you have read parts 1 and 2, you have an idea about the origins of and drivers towards interdisciplinary research, as well as what it entails. You have read what it takes to engage in interdisciplinary research and what the specific steps are that an interdisciplinary researcher needs to take. In this third part, we show how interdisciplinary research is conducted in practice. We will illustrate this with a step-by-step description of an interdisciplinary students’ research project (chapter 12). In addition, we interviewed four interdisciplinary academics about their careers, giving you an idea of what the life of an interdisciplinarian might look like (chapter 13).
