Summary
What, in my view, has this study shown? And what conclusions may we draw? There are several but allow me to gather them under five separate headings. In the first section below, I recapitulate the evidence showing the importance attached to the practice of sermo modernus–style preaching in the thirteenth-century Latin Church and how the educational program that arose at the University of Paris supported and sustained it.
