  • • The study of classics can incorporate a wide range of topics relating to ancient languages, literature, civilisation, archaeology, architecture and philosophy. Find out what sub-field is required. Related chapters in this book include History, Philosophy and Art.

  • • Classic Roman and Greek texts are increasingly available online – check the versions required are correct. This section cannot list all the sites available. Use the websites of the Scholarly societies and Libraries to locate links to other quality resources.

Founded in 1903, the largest British scholarly association supporting all aspects of teaching, learning and research of the languages, literature and civilisation of ancient Greece and Rome. Its website includes advice and resources for teachers, as well as details of its academic journals.

Society for Classical Studies

classicalstudies.org

Principal learned society in North America. Use its website to get information on events, research and tips for teaching classics. Also includes lists of recent dissertations.

Institute of Classical Studies Library

Part of the University of London. The collection incorporates the joint library of the Roman and Hellenic Societies.
