• • This section concentrates on area studies. Many students will need to combine its use with resources listed in the relevant subject sections of this book. Common queries relate to post-Communist economic and political transitions (see the Economics and Politics chapters) and Cold War studies (see the History chapter).

• • Problems may arise in accessing Cyrillic language resources. Note that many standard newspaper and journal article databases do not index non-roman language scripts in detail. Always check contents lists. If necessary, refer students to the specialist libraries in this section as most will offer some access to visitors.

• • Country names and boundaries have changed throughout the 20th and 21st century. Check the time period required and search for all alternatives.
