Summary

Typical questions

  • • I want to trace some articles by Peter Drucker.

  • • I need an introduction to Six Sigma management.

Starting points

  • • Management can be both a theoretical and practical subject. Check what type of information is required.

  • • A common query is case studies. These can be difficult to locate as internet searches for management topics often retrieve commercial websites of varying quality. This section guides students to established resources. Other useful starting points are the journal article databases listed in the Business Studies chapter as these also index management titles and many allow searches to be limited by a specific resource type. Students of HR management may also find it helpful to consult the Psychology journal article indexes as these include organisational psychology. Be aware that classes can purchase case studies for course packs so do ask students to check their VLES in case they are already available there!
