American Institute of Physics

Federation of leading US physics societies. Its website has news, conference listings, career advice and job sections. It is possible for non-members to sign up to alerts from its journal publications.

European Physical Society

Leading international forum. Use the website to locate news, research, conference listings and information on physics education initiatives from European and EU institutions.

ComPADRE Digital Library [Basic]

www.compadre.org

Great library of resources for students and teachers of physics and astronomy that is maintained by the American Association of Physics Teachers. It includes sections for school and undergraduate education. Resources include video, simulations and modelling.

Eric Weisstein's World of Physics

A collection of free encyclopedias for astronomy, physics, mathematics and chemistry. Hosted by Wolfram research.

Physics.org [Basic]

A guide to physics on the web that is maintained by the Institute of Physics to provide guidance to students and teachers. It includes recent research news, careers and university course guides. There is also a resource list of recommended websites.

Inspec (Subscription) [Specialist]

Interdisciplinary database from the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Includes coverage of physics literature since 1898.

IOPScience [Specialist]

iopscience.iop.org

Provides access to a searchable database of journal content from IOP Publishing. This includes key titles covering all aspects of physics. A high percentage of articles are open access. Users can also register to set up table of contents and RSS alerts.
