Summary

Part III scrutinizes the notion that a market in cadaveric organs is necessarily harmful to Blacks. Chapters in this section debunk that notion. Chapter 9 directly addresses this comparison, which although over-generalized is ubiquitous in scholarly literature and popular media. Ironically, despite its prevalence in literature about markets in organs and other human supplies, no one has bothered to challenge the well-established theory that a market in organs is similar to slavery. Chapter 10 concludes by examining how organ sales might benefit African Americans and what pitfalls to avoid.
