Summary
VALE PARK, SA, an inner north-eastern Adelaide suburb in the Town of walkerville (map 21:D8). It was named after ‘Vale House’, a mansion built in the area in the 1850s.
VALENTINE, NSW, a south-eastern Newcastle locality in the City of lake macquarie (map 12). It stands on the eastern shores of the lake.
VALLA BEACH, NSW (vală), 30 35S 153 00E, a resort township (pop. 232) in nambucca Shire. It is just to the north of nambucca heads (map 11).
VALLEY HEIGHTS, NSW, 3342S 150 35E, a locality within the boundaries of the City of blue mountains. It is just to the east of springwood (map 14A) in the lower mountains.
VALLEY VIEW, SA, a north-eastern Adelaide suburb partly in the City of salisbury and partly in enfield (map 21:C4).
VAN DIEMEN GULF, NT (dee-měn), a large gulf on the western section of the north coast of the Territory (map 3). Abel Tasman named it in 1644 in honour of Anthony van Diemen, Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia). It is formed by melville island on the west and cobourg peninsula on the east. On the west, Clarence Strait leads from Van Diemen Gulf to beagle gulf, while on the north, Dundas Strait leads to the arafura sea.
VARROVILLE, NSW (vah-roh-vil), an outer south-western Sydney locality in the City of campbelltown (map 26:B4).
VASSE RIVER, WA (vass), 33 48S 115 18E, a stream in the south west Region named by Nicolas Baudin in 1801 after a member of his crew who was lost in heavy seas.
