Summary
The final evolution of the modern piano in the late nineteenth century is described in technical terms, as is the revival in the building of harpsichords, clavichords, and fortepianos. Also covered is the formation of musical instrument collections and mounting of public exhibitions of musical instruments, which fostered the early music revival.
