Summary
RECOMMENDATION FOR EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS/INPATIENT DEPARTMENTS PERSONNEL CONCERNING MANAGEMENT OF HYPOTHERMIC PATIENTS.
Within rescue procedures in unconscious patients whose medical history may indicate hypothermia core temperature measurement is obligatory. In case of detection of core temperature below 28°C a telephone consultation with physician on duty at the nearest Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit in a hospital with cardiac surgery department, and thus possibility of implementation of extracorporeal rewarming with extracorporeal circulation system (CPB) or ECMO, is recommended.
