Summary
Probably in no city in the British overseas dominions can Scotsmen cite with greater pride and justification more noteworthy achievements by their countrymen than the examples provided in that connection by Calcutta. There is something about engineering and merchandising on a big scale that seems peculiarly adapted to the Scottish mind.
