Summary

In the name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the MostMerciful.

We seek His help in obtaining His overall guidance andHis complete care, Āmīn.

This is a subtle abridgment and a graceful piece takenfrom some of our treatises. It will be beneficial, through the will of Allāh, to those who find theircontentment in the King of all kings. We named itTuḥfat al-abrār li ahlal-asrār (The gift of the goodness topeople of innermost secrets) and it follows.

Know, o seeker and traveller towards Allāh, it isnecessary that you firstly believe and havecertainty in your heart regarding everything that iscontained in Sūrahal-Ikhlāṣ and in the verse “Nothing issimilar to Him whatsoever” since all beliefs areconnected to this chapter and to this verse. Heshould thereafter also believe that Allāh, the MostHigh, is described with all attributes ofperfection, what we know of and what we are unawareof. He is One who Exists by Himself with everythingdependent on His existence; and He is the trueDeity, in contrast to all false deities. He mustalso then believe in everything that Allāh revealedto His Prophet Muhammad and what it contains. It isalso compulsory upon him to bring together thesacred law (Sharī‘ah)and the reality (Ḥaqīqah) because the Prophet said: “Iwas sent with the sacred law and the reality”. Heshould also remember Allāh abundantly, the One whosaid: “Remember Allāh with much remembrance”. And Hesaid: “Remember Allāh, standing, sitting and lyingon your sides”. And there are many other verses inthis regard. The Prophet said: “If Allāh wishes goodfor His servant, He mentions him abundantly”. And hesaid: “If Allāh wishes to make His servant a friendfrom among His friends, he makes him remember Him”.There are many other prophetic traditions on thistopic. The virtues of remembrance cannot beenumerated.

It is also necessary that he emulates the Messenger ofAllāh inwardly and outwardly. Allāh says: “Say: Ifyou love Allāh, then follow me; Allāh will love youand forgive you your faults”.
