In the preface to The Laws of Fésole (1877) Ruskin announced his intention of issuing, as drawing copies to be used in connexion with that book, “engravings or lithographs of the examples in my Oxford schools, on folio sheets, sold separately.” Several of these were engraved; some were lettered “Oxford Art School Series” and Mr. Allen was authorised to announce them in his List of December 1877 as forthcoming. Ruskin's serious illness some weeks later brought the scheme to an end, but a very few copies of some of the plates were, if not published, yet given to individuals or schools. Reproductions of them (necessarily reduced in size) are, therefore, here included. The subjects of the plates are as follow:—
