Le mouvement de réappropriation de l'histoire, auquel on assiste en URSS à travers la perestroïka et la glasnost', conduit à un retour sur les années terribles : celles qui vont du début de la collectivisation à la guerre, elle-même abordée dans un renouveau des critiques visant Staline, ses capacités militaires ou sa responsabilité dans les purges qui décimèrent l'Armée rouge, ou dans une réévaluation de l'aide américaine de 1941 à 1945.

Si, jusqu'à présent, une attention soutenue a été accordée aux années trente, perçues à juste titre comme la matrice de l'Union soviétique actuelle, les quatre années de guerre n'ont pas suscité en Occident l'intérêt qu'elles méritent à plusieurs titres.

Summary

The impact of war-years (1941-1945) upon the Soviet system could not be overrated. Harsh and wild those years also were a period of profound and far reaching transformation. Described as a kind of Mobilization Economy, Soviet economy as a matter of fact had to be demobilized to survive this ordeal. This process, Soviet leaders had no choice but to implement or perish in 1942, was actually the first step out the Stalinist way and an harbinger of reforms and Perestrojka to come.
