Langeton tried unsuccessfully to collect 1,125 marks from Selby in 1318 and refused to give back the letter of obligation, although the abbot had paid 1,125 marks to the king and 675 marks to Langeton. However in 1329 his executors, who still had the recognizance, although it had been annulled in the exchequer, tried to collect 1,600 marks of the debt and 1,000 marks damages before justices of assize in Northampton.
