page 92 note 3 According to Crusius, , Römische Metrik, p. 7Google Scholar, lengthening takes place where a short final vowel precedes gn. Examples, however, appear to be rare, and the position of -que in the foot does not here favour its lengthening. It is to be observed that, in the case of a short final vowel preceding a mute+liquid, Drac. shows numerous examples of lengthening in arsis, but one or two only, and these are uncertain, in thesis.
