page 11 note 1 α⋯θρνγ⋯νης, a conventional epithet (cf. Od. 5. 296), because the N. winds bring fine and cool weather in summer; see Theophrástos, , Sign. 36Google Scholar, αἲθριοι δ⋯ μ⋯λιστα Θρακ⋯ας κα⋯ … ‘απαρκτἰαsigmav; not presumably because storms from the north often blew up from a clear sky, like that off Magnesia from the direction of the Hellespont in Hdt. 7. 188. 2 (see below).

page 13 note 1 ⋯⋯ is not necessary: cf. 3. 75. 1, δ⋯κα μ⋯ν ἅνδρας αἰτιωτ⋯τους κρῖναι, τοὺς δ⋯ ἄλλους οἰκεῖν.

page 13 note 2 I cannot find the reference to Bergk's conjecture. I quote it from Widmann's, note on this passage, which gives Rhein. Mus. 1870, p. 320Google Scholar; this, however, appears to be wrong.
