We are preparing a special collection of articles for the peer-reviewed, open access journal Data & Policy, published by Cambridge University Press, on concrete experiences of telco-government collaborations across the globe, with the aim to learn from the collective COVID-19 experience and to deeply understand how telco mobile big data analytics can help prepare the world for future pandemics. For this special collection, we are inviting telecommunications companies, their partners, governments, policymakers and research institutions to submit papers describing their concrete experiences with governmental or institutional use of decision-making tools powered by big data from mobile operators in the fight against COVID-19.
This document is a call for reviewers for that special collection, motivated by a recognition that the specific expertise and experience needed for proper review does not abound and therefore we hope to tap into reviewers from the larger, external community of experts.
We therefore invite experts in the field to contact us to express their interest in reviewing the papers submitted to this special collection.
In the interest of transparency, the reviews will not be anonymous and will be published alongside the accepted paper. An illustrative example can be seen here.
To acknowledge their contribution, reviewers will receive:
- Credit in the form of the publication of their review, which will have a unique DOI and citation;
- A discount on Cambridge University Press books;
- Thanks on the page dedicated to the special collection
Submission Guidelines
Interested reviewers should email dataandpolicy@cambridge.org by the deadline with the following information:
- Their motivation in reviewing papers for the special collection;
- A CV or list of their relevant work (projects, articles, experiences, etc.) or CV, and affiliation;
- A Conflict of Interest statement
Conflicts of Interest
Interested reviewers provide a statement about situations that could be perceived to exert an undue influence on their ability to review articles that form part of this special collection. Conflicts of interest may be financial, professional, contractual or personal in nature. Declaring a conflict of interest does not necessarily invalidate reviewers from participating, but it will help the guest editors better understand how to use the expertise whilst maintaining an independent process.
Example wording: “Conflicts of Interest: I am employed at / own shares in / am the board of / have received grants from company X or organisation Y that has a commercial interest in this area.”
