The article is focused on one specific aspect of organized crime during the period of social transformation of Bulgarian society. It views the capacity of organized crime to offer additional power resources and encouragement for the political elite, whose power and domination have been threatened by the changes. The analysis is based on the thesis that to sustain and to strengthen their power and domination the elites have applied the strategy of increased secrecy and informality of power sources and of the means of their exertion via the establishment and control of criminal structures. The applied research methods include participant observation, in-depth interviews and document analysis.

On montre la capacité, en Bulgarie, des milieux du crime organisé à offrir des ressources de pouvoir additionnelles et des appuis à la classe politique ébranlée par les changements de la période de transition. Les anciens aparatchiks ont développé une stratégie de secret sur leurs sources de pouvoir et moyens de l'exercer grâce à la construction de structures criminelles qu'ils contrôlent. L'enquête est partie des milieux du sport et a utilisé l'observation participante, des entretiens en profondeur et l'étude de documents.

Diese Studie zeigt auf, wie das organisierte Verbrechen in Bulgarien nach der Wende den Politikern zusätzliche Macht und Unterstützung hat zukommen lassen. Die ehemaligen Kader halten den Ursprung ihrer politischen Macht und deren Ausübung geheim, und dies dank krimineller Strukturen, an deren Aufbau sie beteiligt waren und die sie bestimmen. Das Sportwesen dient hier als Untersuchungsgegenstand gestützt auf eine teilhabende Beobachtung, auf Interviews und die Studie verschiedener Dokumente.
