The ever-evolving landscape of drug discovery: challenges set and progress made
31 Aug 2023

Over the last two decades major advancements have been made in the field of drug discovery including the development of new modalities, increasing knowledge of disease biology, targeting previously assumed un-druggable targets and a drive towards precision medicine. However, despite major discoveries and the application of technological advancements, new challenges are encountered in the ever-evolving landscape of drug discovery.

The aim of this special issue is to give an up-to-date overview of the developments in the field of drug discovery over the last two decades, highlighting advancements and challenges. Topics of reviews solicited for this collection include, but are not limited to:

  • Interesting target classes
  • New modalities
  • Highlights on “undruggable” targets
  • New therapeutic approaches to treat disease
  • Biological advances in disease understandings
  • Model systems, target discovery and validation tools

We invite authors to submit reviews (see instructions to authors) via Editorial Manager. We welcome authors to reach out to the Special Collection Editors (see below) with an abstract and brief outline to discuss suitability of the proposed review.
