Submission of Artwork for Consideration

Paintings, drawings, photography, and other forms of art that could be adequately represented on the journal cover will be considered. To have artwork considered for selection for a future ICHE cover, the artist should submit the following information to the Editor at ICHEart@shea-online.org:

1. Information about the artist
· Artist’s name
· Artist’s email address
· Artist’s location (country)
· Attestation that submitter is the creator of the artwork, and that submitter holds all rights to the artwork
· Attestation that submitter agrees to allow SHEA and Cambridge University Press to include the artwork on the cover of ICHE and on the ICHE website, if selected
· If your art is not selected during the first selection process after submission, would you like for your art to be considered for a future cover?

2. Information about the art
· Title of the artwork
· Year that the artwork was created
· Medium/technique
· Size of the artwork
· What was the inspiration for this artwork?
· What is your personal connection to the content of ICHE (e.g., healthcare-associated infections, antimicrobial resistance, healthcare epidemiology and the impact of these topics on patients, healthcare personnel and/or our society)?
· Given the scope of the journal, why is this work appropriate for the cover of Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology?
· Is there anything else that you would like to add regarding your work of art?

3. A file containing an image of the art (PDF, jpeg, tif, png) no larger than 5 MB

Selection Process

All submitted artwork will be considered. Factors that will be taken into account during the selection process will include the art, the artist’s submitted narrative information, subject relevance, variety and diversity of selected art and artist over time (e.g., subject matter, medium, geography). The selected artwork will be revealed during a Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA)-sponsored conference (e.g., SHEA Spring Conference, IDWeek) and subsequently appear on the journal cover and on the ICHE website. The art will be accompanied by a brief description of the art and artist in the printed and electronic versions of the journal.
