Electrophoretic Study of Enzymes from Sogatella Furcifera Horvath Population from Sri Lanka

Abstract

The banding patterns of six soluble enzymes of a Sogatella furcifera Horvath population from Sri Lanka, maintained in glass-houses on rice variety TN 1 at University of Wales, Cardiff, were studied. Crude homogenates of macropterous adults of both sexes were analysed, using polyacrylamide electrophoresis. The following enzymes showed activity and were stained: esterase (EST), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), phosphoglucomutase (PGM), hexokinase (HK), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PDH) and malic enzyme (ME). Number and relative mobility of bands varied between enzyme systems.

Résumé

Des études ont été menées sur les propriétés d'association de 6 enzymes solubles d'une colonie de Sogatella furcifera Horvath en provenance de Sri Lanka et élevés dans des vases de verrre sur la variété de riz TN1 à l'Université de Wales, Cardiff.

L'analyse a été menée sur des homogénates bruts des macroptères adultes des 2 sexes au moyen d'une électrophorène polyacrylamide. Les enzymes suivants se sont révélés actifs et étaient marqués d'une tache; esterase (EST), déhydrogénase lactée (LDH), phosphoglucomutase (PGM), héxokinase (HK), déhydrogénase gluco-phosphate (G-6-PDH) et l'enzyme malique (ME).

Le nombre et la relative mobilité au sein de chaque regroupement/association variaient selon le type d'enzymes concernés.
