A Nimrud manuscript of the fourth tablet of the series mīs pî, CTN IV 170(+) 188, and a Kiutu incantation to the sun god
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 07 August 2014
Summary
A fragment of a two-column tablet containing a bilingual text from Nimrud, CTN IV 170, has turned out to belong to the same tablet as CTN IV 188, a manuscript of the fourth tablet of the series mīs pî “Mouth-Washing”. With the help of the new fragment, it becomes possible for the first time to reconstruct the second and third versions of a Sumerian Kiutu incantation to the sun god Utu-Šamaš.
