Infinite product operations are at the forefront of the study of homotopy groups of Peano continua and other locally path-connected spaces. In this paper, we define what it means for a space X to have infinitely commutative $\pi _1$ -operations at a point $x\in X$ . Using a characterization in terms of the Specker group, we identify several natural situations in which this property arises. Maintaining a topological viewpoint, we define the transfinite abelianization of a fundamental group at any set of points $A\subseteq X$ in a way that refines and extends previous work on the subject.

We generalize Condition (K) from directed graphs to Boolean dynamical systems and show that a locally finite Boolean dynamical system $({{\mathcal {B}}},{{\mathcal {L}}},\theta )$ with countable ${{\mathcal {B}}}$ and ${{\mathcal {L}}}$ satisfies Condition (K) if and only if every ideal of its $C^*$ -algebra is gauge-invariant, if and only if its $C^*$ -algebra has the (weak) ideal property, and if and only if its $C^*$ -algebra has topological dimension zero. As a corollary we prove that if the $C^*$ -algebra of a locally finite Boolean dynamical system with ${{\mathcal {B}}}$ and ${{\mathcal {L}}}$ countable either has real rank zero or is purely infinite, then $({{\mathcal {B}}}, {{\mathcal {L}}}, \theta )$ satisfies Condition (K). We also generalize the notion of maximal tails from directed graph to Boolean dynamical systems and use this to give a complete description of the primitive ideal space of the $C^*$ -algebra of a locally finite Boolean dynamical system that satisfies Condition (K) and has countable ${{\mathcal {B}}}$ and ${{\mathcal {L}}}$ .

We consider a multilinear kernel operator between Banach function spaces over finite measures and suitable order continuity properties, namely $T:X_{1}(\,\unicode[STIX]{x1D707}_{1})\times \cdots \times X_{n}(\,\unicode[STIX]{x1D707}_{n})\rightarrow Y(\,\unicode[STIX]{x1D707}_{0})$. Then we define, via duality, a class of linear operators associated to the $j$-transpose operators. We show that, under certain conditions of $p$th power factorability of such operators, there exist vector measures $m_{j}$ for $j=0,1,\ldots ,n$ so that $T$ factors through a multilinear operator $\widetilde{T}:L^{p_{1}}(m_{1})\times \cdots \times L^{p_{n}}(m_{n})\rightarrow L^{p_{0}^{\prime }}(m_{0})^{\ast }$, provided that $1/p_{0}=1/p_{1}+\cdots +1/p_{n}$. We apply this scheme to the study of the class of multilinear Calderón–Zygmund operators and provide some concrete examples for the homogeneous polynomial and multilinear Volterra and Laplace operators.

We prove that any metric with curvature less than or equal to $-1$ (in the sense of A. D. Alexandrov) on a closed surface of genus greater than $1$ is isometric to the induced intrinsic metric on a space-like convex surface in a Lorentzian manifold of dimension $(2+1)$ with sectional curvature $-1$ . The proof is by approximation, using a result about isometric immersion of smooth metrics by Labourie and Schlenker.

In this paper, we prove a one level density result for the low-lying zeros of quadratic Hecke L-functions of imaginary quadratic number fields of class number 1. As a corollary, we deduce, essentially, that at least $(19-\cot (1/4))/16 = 94.27\ldots \%$ of the L-functions under consideration do not vanish at 1/2.

In noncommutative algebraic geometry an Artin–Schelter regular (AS-regular) algebra is one of the main interests, and every three-dimensional quadratic AS-regular algebra is a geometric algebra, introduced by Mori, whose point scheme is either $\mathbb {P}^{2}$ or a cubic curve in $\mathbb {P}^{2}$ by Artin et al. [‘Some algebras associated to automorphisms of elliptic curves’, in: The Grothendieck Festschrift, Vol. 1, Progress in Mathematics, 86 (Birkhäuser, Basel, 1990), 33–85]. In the preceding paper by the authors Itaba and Matsuno [‘Defining relations of 3-dimensional quadratic AS-regular algebras’, Math. J. Okayama Univ. 63 (2021), 61–86], we determined all possible defining relations for these geometric algebras. However, we did not check their AS-regularity. In this paper, by using twisted superpotentials and twists of superpotentials in the Mori–Smith sense, we check the AS-regularity of geometric algebras whose point schemes are not elliptic curves. For geometric algebras whose point schemes are elliptic curves, we give a simple condition for three-dimensional quadratic AS-regular algebras. As an application, we show that every three-dimensional quadratic AS-regular algebra is graded Morita equivalent to a Calabi–Yau AS-regular algebra.

Recent work by Baum et al. [‘Expanders, exact crossed products, and the Baum–Connes conjecture’, Ann. K-Theory 1(2) (2016), 155–208], further developed by Buss et al. [‘Exotic crossed products and the Baum–Connes conjecture’, J. reine angew. Math. 740 (2018), 111–159], introduced a crossed-product functor that involves tensoring an action with a fixed action $(C,\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FE})$, then forming the image inside the crossed product of the maximal-tensor-product action. For discrete groups, we give an analogue for coaction functors. We prove that composing our tensor-product coaction functor with the full crossed product of an action reproduces their tensor-crossed-product functor. We prove that every such tensor-product coaction functor is exact, and if $(C,\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FE})$ is the action by translation on $\ell ^{\infty }(G)$, we prove that the associated tensor-product coaction functor is minimal, thereby recovering the analogous result by the above authors. Finally, we discuss the connection with the $E$-ization functor we defined earlier, where $E$ is a large ideal of $B(G)$.

In this paper a homotopy co-momentum map (à la Callies, Frégier, Rogers and Zambon) transgressing to the standard hydrodynamical co-momentum map of Arnol’d, Marsden, Weinstein and others is constructed and then generalized to a special class of Riemannian manifolds. Also, a covariant phase space interpretation of the coadjoint orbits associated to the Euler evolution for perfect fluids, and in particular of Brylinski’s manifold of smooth oriented knots, is discussed. As an application of the above homotopy co-momentum map, a reinterpretation of the (Massey) higher-order linking numbers in terms of conserved quantities within the multisymplectic framework is provided and knot-theoretic analogues of first integrals in involution are determined.

In this paper, we characterize amenability of locally compact groups in terms of the properties of Orlicz Figà-Talamanca Herz algebras.

The main aim of this paper is to investigate the invariant properties of uniform domains under flattening and sphericalization in nonlocally compact complete metric spaces. Moreover, we show that quasi-Möbius maps preserve uniform domains in nonlocally compact spaces as well.

This paper explores the existence and distribution of primitive elements in finite field extensions with prescribed traces in several intermediate field extensions. Our main result provides an inequality-like condition to ensure the existence of such elements. We then derive concrete existence results for a special class of intermediate extensions.

We characterize the second order subexponentiality of an infinitely divisible distribution on the real line under an exponential moment assumption. We investigate the asymptotic behaviour of the difference between the tails of an infinitely divisible distribution and its Lévy measure. Moreover, we study the second order asymptotic behaviour of the tail of the $t$th convolution power of an infinitely divisible distribution. The density version for a self-decomposable distribution on the real line without an exponential moment assumption is also given. Finally, the regularly varying case for a self-decomposable distribution on the half line is discussed.

This paper is a continuation of the paper, Matsumoto [‘Subshifts, $\lambda $ -graph bisystems and $C^*$ -algebras’, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 485 (2020), 123843]. A $\lambda $ -graph bisystem consists of a pair of two labeled Bratteli diagrams satisfying a certain compatibility condition on their edge labeling. For any two-sided subshift $\Lambda $ , there exists a $\lambda $ -graph bisystem satisfying a special property called the follower–predecessor compatibility condition. We construct an AF-algebra ${\mathcal {F}}_{\mathcal {L}}$ with shift automorphism $\rho _{\mathcal {L}}$ from a $\lambda $ -graph bisystem $({\mathcal {L}}^-,{\mathcal {L}}^+)$ , and define a $C^*$ -algebra ${\mathcal R}_{\mathcal {L}}$ by the crossed product . It is a two-sided subshift analogue of asymptotic Ruelle algebras constructed from Smale spaces. If $\lambda $ -graph bisystems come from two-sided subshifts, these $C^*$ -algebras are proved to be invariant under topological conjugacy of the underlying subshifts. We present a simplicity condition of the $C^*$ -algebra ${\mathcal R}_{\mathcal {L}}$ and the K-theory formulas of the $C^*$ -algebras ${\mathcal {F}}_{\mathcal {L}}$ and ${\mathcal R}_{\mathcal {L}}$ . The K-group for the AF-algebra ${\mathcal {F}}_{\mathcal {L}}$ is regarded as a two-sided extension of the dimension group of subshifts.

We study the extragradient method for solving quasi-equilibrium problems in Banach spaces, which generalizes the extragradient method for equilibrium problems and quasi-variational inequalities. We propose a regularization procedure which ensures strong convergence of the generated sequence to a solution of the quasi-equilibrium problem, under standard assumptions on the problem assuming neither any monotonicity assumption on the bifunction nor any weak continuity assumption of f in its arguments that in the many well-known methods have been used. Also, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the solution set of the quasi-equilibrium problem to be nonempty and we show that, in this case, this iterative sequence converges strongly to a solution of the quasi-equilibrium problem. In other words, we prove strong convergence of the generated sequence to a solution of the quasi-equilibrium problem without assuming existence of a solution of the problem. Finally, we give an application of our main result to a generalized Nash equilibrium problem.

We give a geometric interpretation of sheaf cohomology for higher degrees $n\geq 1$ in terms of torsors on the member of degree $d=n-1$ in hypercoverings of type $r=n-2$, endowed with an additional datum, the so-called rigidification. This generalizes the fact that cohomology in degree one is the group of isomorphism classes of torsors, where the rigidification becomes vacuous, and that cohomology in degree two can be expressed in terms of bundle gerbes, where the rigidification becomes an associativity constraint.

This paper deals with the following problem. Given a finite extension of fields $\mathbb{L}/\mathbb{K}$ and denoting the trace map from $\mathbb{L}$ to $\mathbb{K}$ by $\text{Tr}$, for which elements $z$ in $\mathbb{L}$, and $a$, $b$ in $\mathbb{K}$, is it possible to write $z$ as a product $xy$, where $x,y\in \mathbb{L}$ with $\text{Tr}(x)=a,\text{Tr}(y)=b$? We solve most of these problems for finite fields, with a complete solution when the degree of the extension is at least 5. We also have results for arbitrary fields and extensions of degrees 2, 3 or 4. We then apply our results to the study of perfect nonlinear functions, semifields, irreducible polynomials with prescribed coefficients, and a problem from finite geometry concerning the existence of certain disjoint linear sets.
