Gordon McNeil Rushforth (1862–1938) fu il primo direttore della BSR, dai 1900 al 1903. Malgrado l'impprtanza dei suoi successi accademici — in Storia Romana, Arte Rinascimentale, e sopratutto nella Iconografia delle Vetrate Medievali — egli non appare in alcuna bibliografia standard.
