His research has appeared in Presidential Studies Quarterly, and his dissertation won the Best Dissertation on the Presidency for 1999 from the Center for Presidential Studies. He is the author of The Opposition Presidency: Leadership and the Constraints of History (Texas A&M University Press, 2002).
