Community

Alongside formally published outputs, Research Directions: Depression has a Community space on Cambridge Open Engage where additional content can be shared. The Community can be used for hosting Community content for formally published outputs in the journal, as well as standalone content that contributes to one of the journal’s open questions.

Read the latest Community content here.

We strongly recommend that all datasets, code, software tools, and other research materials are submitted to the community site to ensure these materials are easily discoverable and citable.

Submitting Content to the Community Site

If you want to submit Additional Material and/or Early Outputs, please click the button below. This will take you to the Research Directions: Depression Community where you will be able to submit your content in response to an open question. This content will not be peer reviewed but it will be moderated and curated.

The list below gives examples of other types of outputs that can be submitted for consideration to the Research Directions: Depression Community. The list includes the content types and file formats we currently accept. Please contact depression@cambridge.org if there are other content types or file formats you would like to submit as additional materials. Based on this feedback, we may add further content types in the future.

At the current time, the following content types are available:

  • dataset: data collected through a research process
  • poster: a poster presented at a conference
  • presentation: scholarly presentations of various kinds, including those used in teaching
  • protocol/methodology: a description of an experiment or other research method
  • video, images and audio: these could include animations, audio, figures or infographics to explain your research, or primary research objects that your research is based on
  • working paper: full-length paper, typically designed to be submitted for peer review and formal publication by a journal or as part of a book

If you are submitting a dataset, poster, presentation, video, image or audio file, make sure that you provide detailed metadata that allows any reader to understand your Community item. We advise following these suggestions

We encourage you to read the submission instructions and policies on Cambridge Open Engage  before submitting to the Community, but also take into consideration the following specific guidelines for the Research Directions: Depression Community:

  • All posted content must be in response to a published active question.
  • The editors reserve the right to reject content they do not deem relevant to the question posed.
  • The content posted on the Community is not peer reviewed but it is moderated according to the Engage policies and the scope of the Community. We aim to make a moderation decision on submissions within 3 to 5 business days, but this process may take up to 10 business days if the submission requires editorial escalation.
  • We encourage all authors to have an ORCID ID and to provide it during submission to the Community. This will mean that, with your permission, we will be able to automatically update your ORCID record with details of your content, and that readers will be able to access your profile easily from your content page.
  • If you submit a preprint to the Community and it is accepted, this does not guarantee acceptance for publication in the journal after peer review.
  • If a preprint posted on the Community does go on to be published in the journal, we can add a link to the formally published version to your preprint. Use the VOR request form in your author dashboard to let us know your publication DOI.
  • Community content for materials published formally in Research Directions: Depression should be hosted on the Community (or a third-party repository, if that is more appropriate to your materials). If you are planning to provide community content with a formal submission to the Research Directions: Depression journal, please submit them to the Community and then provide their DOIs during the publication process, either in ScholarOne or to the editorial team dealing with your formal submission.
