El primer ministro de Australia, señor Robert Hawke, visitó, el 10 de junio, la sede del Comité Internacional de la Cruz Roja en Ginebra. Acompanaban al primer ministro el embajador señor David Sadleir, representante permanente de Australia en Ginebra, y otras personalidades.

El señor Hawke fue recibido por el presidente del CICR, señor Alexandre Hay, y por dirigentes del CICR, con quienes mantuvo una entrevista acerca de las actividades del CICR en el mundo.
