A paper book bound into Dudley Papers III (a volume of miscellaneous papers assembled after Canon Jackson's sorting of the Longleat Papers). It is the first item in the volume and the foliation is sequential throughout. There is a modern pencil note on fo. 1, ‘E of Leycester. Book of Servants Bordwages Etc. 1 Eliz. 1558–9'; [sic]’. Internal references (pp. 403, 417) reveal that it was compiled by Richard Ellis and the dates of his last payments coincide with those of his main account.

Endorsed (fo. 283V) ‘Thomas Powell's bill for the bestowing of livery’. Fos. 280–1 list those receiving coats, fos. 282–3 those receiving hose. The endorsement may not apply to fos. 280–1, but both lists are in the same hand. Undated, but probably for livery granted for the progress of 1559. Whyttell (p. 420) was William Whittle, Leicester's tailor (see p. 42, n. 22).

Extract from fos. 269–72, endorsed ‘Book of Edmund More between xxviij April anno nono [1567] and 2 March anno decimo [1568].’ Fo. 270 contains the entry, ‘Item for imbroderyng of vijxx bagges sins the xxixth day of April 1567 unto this tyme at ijs. a pece one with another as may appere by a byll of names as they were delivered: xiiijli. Xs.’

Extract from fos. 284–v, bill of Richard Paramour, draper. Undated, but probably c. 1567–8. Fo. 287V contains the note, ‘Memorandum that all these parcells of cloth abovesaid as well with names as without were delivered by Mr Anthony Forster's warrant’.
