Special Issue of Studies in Second Language Acquisition, July 2025
08 Jun 2023 to 12 Jan 2024

Studies in Second Language Acquisition (SSLA) is now entertaining proposals for the thematic issue of Volume 47:3, to be published in July 2025. Thematic issues of SSLA focus on areas of current interest and are an excellent venue to bring together in one issue numerous approaches to a problem or methodology in the field of SLA. For examples, see previous special volumes of SSLA.

A proposal should include (a) a rationale (up to two single-spaced pages plus references) for the thematic issue and (b) tentative titles and abstracts (250-300 words) from the authors of the manuscripts that the editor intends or expects to include. Part (b) can also include a list of possible topics and/or names of authors that may be invited to contribute. Note that the articles in a special issue can belong to any of the article types published in SSLA. These include: Research article, Critical Commentary, Research Report, Replication Studies, Methods Forum, and State-of-the-Scholarship Review.

Proposal submissions are due by email to ssla.journal@gmail.com by January 12, 2024. Other manuscript and production deadlines are as follows:

January 12, 2024                     Proposals due in SSLA office

February 16, 2024                   Final decision reached

May 10, 2024                          Submission of first-draft manuscripts to SSLA via ScholarOne
