Arthur Benjamin 1893–1960

Published online by Cambridge University Press:  04 February 2010

Extract

Arthur Benjamin endured two serious disabilities. He had conquered a large part of the listening world with an enchanting brevity (Jamaican Rumba). And he was an unashamed Romantic. The second appeared to make him an anachronistic figure.
