In this year of 1956 it is only right and proper to call attention to the fact that it is the tercentenary of the founding by King Charles II in 1656 of the Royal Regiment of Guards, subsequently “The Royal Regiment of Foot Guards” and finally, after the Battle of Waterloo, according to the following order: WAR OFFICE. July 29, 1815.
