Summary

This chapter begins by giving an overview of the current peacebuilding landscape, based on a liberal peace model that includes local civil society, international organizations and governments from local to international levels. It is important to understand how different actors view peacebuilding in order to understand better how they measure and evaluate peace. The chapter discusses the current challenges and problems of evaluation and measurement and gives historical background on the measurement of peace and the evaluation of peacebuilding interventions.
