Summary

This book has traveled, it is tired, and eager to come to an end. Throughout these pages, visits have been made to many places real and imaginary. From the fens to the pub, from the crumbling roads of Dominica to the forests of Nigeria, and any number of nondescript rooms in between, the chapters pieced together fragments of an environmental modernity that provided relief and regeneration to an exhausted world. Many more places were left unvisited and undiscovered.
