Summary
The center of a circle that included Keats, Shelley, Hazlitt, Lamb, and others, Hunt edited several radical journals, one of which led to his two-year imprisonment for slandering the Prince Regent. This sonnet expresses the belief he shared with Shelley that orthodox notions of God are idolatrous.
