Summary
As this book has illustrated, the illicit drug market is undergoing a period of unprecedented change. This dynamic situation has resulted in a huge number of new psychoactive drugs being available to those who seek them. Prevalence studies suggest that young people, clubbers, students and men who have sex with men are particularly likely to consume emerging drugs, and these groups should be the target for health messages about potential harms. Developing appropriate health messages is a challenge, however, as for many of these emerging drugs, little is known about their psychoactive characteristics and potential to cause health harms.
