I - Die Äußerungen

Summary
Vorbemerkung. Alles, was keinen regelrechten Satz bildet, nenne ich Äußlerungen. Ich rechne dazu die Interjektionen, die Vokative, teilweise die Imperative und sonstige alleinstehende Worte.
Interjektionen. Äußerungen sind zunächst die Interjektionen. Dieses Kapitel der menschlichen Rede ist bis vor kurzem recht stiefmiitterlich behandelt worden. Jetzt haben sie mehr die Aufmerksamkeit auf sich gezogen.
Die Interjektionen konnen verschiedenen Zwecken dienen.
Gefühlsäußerungen. Zunächst sind die Interjektionen einfache reflektorische Ausdrücke, die auf eine Einwirkung von außen her erfolgen und verschiedenartige Gefühle wiedergeben. Für den Schmerz gebrauchen wir au, die Griechen ω in ωμoι, ωμoι ∈γẃ, ω πóπoι; daneben παπαî; íẃ, l. vae. Wir finden ferner Interjektionen der Veränderung (ei!), der Preude (hei), des Bedauerns (oh), des Zweifels (so, sō) und manche andere.
Diese Interjektionen haben natürlich auch eine Geschichte. Sie sind heute keine Reflexlaute mehr, sonst müßten sie überall gleich sein, sondern sie werden wie andere Äußerungen überliefert. Vgl. hierzu Schwentner, S. 2.
Interjektionen der Mitteilung. Interjektionen dienen dazu, etwas mitzuteilen, einen zu rufen (he) oder etwas zu bewirken (pst). Das Zischen dient dazu, zur Ruhe zu verweisen oder sein Mißfallen auszudrücken. Außerdem können natürlich auch die Gefühlsäufierungen einer Mitteilung dienen. Wir gebrauchen diese Art von Interjektionen besonders im Umgang mit Tieren, um einen Befehl auszudrücken. Vgl. hü, hotl, brr usw.
Nachahmung von Geräuschen. Geräusche werden sehr häufig nachahmend durch Interjektionen wiedergegeben.
