Mekely besechyn your good and gracious lordshipp your poore Oratours Richard Joy and Henry Joy of the Towne of Southwold in the Countie of Suffolk Executors of the testament of John Joy Where the seid John by his last wille bequethed to the honor of almyghty god and renewyng of his Churche towards the making of a Crismatorie for the seid Churche l xii which late reseid in the keping of your seid Oratours. And for performyng of the seid good dede they had covenanted with oon Sir John Hopton then Vicar which promysed to proveid to the seid churche Crismatorie that noon shuld be like unto yt in Suffolk, And after the same the seid Vicar bargayned with a Goldsmyth at Cambrigge and agreed as he seid togif to the seid Goldsmyth for the seid Crismatorie l xviii and thereuppon wrote with his owne hand to your Beseechers of the seid bargeyn, shewyng ferthermore he had iiii sufficient men bounde for the seid Goldsmyth that he shuld performe his bargeyn and forasmoche as the same vicar wrote ferthermore by his letre that he had bought iii skore unces of broke sylver at iii d the unce. And also that the Goldsmyth wolde have mony in hands he praied your besechers to send hym by his servaunt bringer of the said letre l vii xiiis iiiid promysying to answere theym thereof as in the same letre redy to be shewid apperith more of large.
