About the series

Elements in Middle East politics provides a platform for scholars to explore subjects of contemporary resonance in relation to the broader Middle East at a time when this most pivotal of regions faces profound flux. Studies focus on thematic and country focused analyses, as well ideas and approaches that seek to decolonize knowledge and highlight new disciplinary trends.  

About the editors

David B Roberts is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at King’s College London where he leads the twin-track Arabic and English Master of Research (MRes) programme in the School of Security Studies. Additionally, David is Adjunct Faculty at Science Po’s Paris School of International Affairs and a Non-Resident Fellow at the Arab Gulf States Institute Washington and the Middle East Policy Council. David's most recent book 'Security Politics in the Gulf Monarchies' was published by Columbia University Press in 2023. He obtained his PhD from Durham University.



Louise Fawcett is Professor in International Relations and Fellow in Politics at St Catherine’s College University of Oxford.  She is the author/editor of a number of books and articles, including, Iran and the Cold War; Regionalism in World Politics; The Third World Since the Cold War; Regionalism in the Americas, and International Relations of the Middle East (6th edition forthcoming).  She is on the international advisory board of the United Nations University, Centre for Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS) and the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA).  She is also a member of the Editorial Board of International Affairs.

    

Mohammed Abdel-Haq is a Professor in Banking and the Director of the Centre for Islamic Finance and the Director of the Centre for Opposition Studies at the University of Bolton.  He is also the Principal of Hume Institute for Postgraduate Studies, Lausanne, Switzerland and Affiliate Professor, Kings College London and also he is an Associate at London School of Economics – IDEAS. Mohammed has a long career in banking in Citibank, Deutsche Bank, ABN AMRO and HSBC. He is also CEO of Oakstone Merchant Bank, London. Mohammed is co-author of a book on Islamic finance and wrote several articles and reports.  He is a Freeman of the City of Oxford and has also been acknowledged in WHO’s WHO since 2013.
