To open/use MARC records from Cambridge Core, we recommend you use MARCEdit. If you do not already have MARCEdit, you can download the free software here.

Once MARCEdit is installed, you will need to do a character conversion:
 
1) Open MarcEdit
2) Go to Batch Process Records
3) Go to Character Conversions
4) Choose your ‘Source File’ - the file you wish to modify
5) Choose your ‘Destination File’ - create a new file
6) Select Original Encoding MARC8 and Final Encoding UTF8
7) Click ‘Process’ and a new file will be created with the correct coding.
