These instructions detail how to set up LTI configuration for Cambridge Spiral and Higher Education from Cambridge University Press textbook content in Blackboard.

Copying LTI and Deep Links from Higher Education from Cambridge University Press

You can copy textbook-specific LTI links from the textbook landing page on the Higher Education from Cambridge University Press. Please note that these will only be visible if the user is registered as a librarian or instructor.

Configuration and Web Link Configuration for Blackboard

To integrate textbooks from Higher Education from Cambridge University Press to Blackboard, please follow the below instructions.

Setting Up the LTI Tool

Go to your admin panel and setup a new LTI provider. We use LTI 1.1 Tool.

• Enter Domain ‘www.cambridge.org'

• Select Provide Domain Status ‘Approved’

• Set default configuration to ‘Set globally’

• Enter the provided secret and key in the appropriate boxes.

• Send User data should be set to ‘Send user data only over SSL’

• User fields to send can all be ticked. We only utilise the email address for now, but this may change in the future as we expand features.

• Allow Membership Service Access can remain ticked, we do not use it at present, but this may change in the future as we expand features.

• 'Submit'. Your configuration should look something like this:

Please note for this configuration you do not need to configure Placements. Please proceed to your course.

Blackboard web link instructions

Once you have configured your provider tool you can proceed to your course to add Web Links to the specific content.

• Go to your build content menu and select Web Link.

• This will launch the configure web link screens.
  

Configure the web link

• Add a title. This can be anything you wish. The title of the book is a good example.

• Add the URL to the URL field for the title. You can copy the URL using the Copy LTI link from the book landing page (you must be registered with an instructor or librarian user account to see this button). Alternatively, ou can construct your own URLs by combining the default prefix 'https://www.cambridge .org/highereducation/lti' and the product ID from the book landing page. An example:

• So this LTI link would be:

https://www.cambridge .org/highereducation/lti/86B27B08AF675395E5ADE5544AAD4CB0

• Tick ‘This link is to a tool provider’. This will inform Blackboard to use the appropriate tool by matching the URL to the tool (www.cambridge.org).
  

• We recommend setting ‘Open in new window’ to Yes.

• Please set ‘Permit users to view this content’ to Yes

• You may optionally tick ‘Track number of views’

• You may optionally set display schedule options
  

• Click Submit to save your web link
  

What Instructors Should See

The user can see the textbook they need to access, in this example, ‘The Cosmos’. The LTI link launch window is shown.

Cambridge Spiral will launch to the appropriate access information page based on the subscription that the institution has access to, or if the student is required to purchase the textbook. In this example, the institution has no access to the book.
