Summary
Chrétien's Grail continues to be examined principally in relation to the traditions it is made to derive from (M and N), its allegorical meaning (Jd), and its influence (P). His description of the object as a low-bottomed bowl is generally recognized, although there is less agreement on its use, the meaning of the procession it is part of, and the significance of the answer to the question Perceval failed to ask about it. For Tc in the 1976 Bibliography, or illustrations of the Grail and its procession, see now X.
