Summary

Inclusion in this section conforms to the guidelines set out in the 1976 Bibliography: ‘introductory, survey, and synthetic works embracing all or most traditional fields of Chrétien scholarship and general Arthurian’ and romance ‘studies that reserve a large place for Chrétien.’ Included in this Supplement are important recent articles in encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other such compendia that can be useful to the student or the non-specialist scholar seeking a general or broad orientation or introduction to Chrétien and his works. Forthcoming, but still in press at the time this Supplement went to press, is The Arthur of the French, which is to appear at the University of Wales Press and will contain a chapter on Chrétien as well as other romances influenced by or related to his œuvre; this volume is appearing with a number of others that are meant to supplement ALMA (Da3).
