Summary

And it came to pass after these things, that it was said to Joseph, ‘Behold, thy father is lying sick’: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

(These verses follow the Hebrew, except that in verse 3 appeared becomes ‘was revealed’, and verse 5 adds, Ephraim and Manasseh … are reckoned as mine.)

And as for me, I beg of you to bury me with my fathers. When I came from Padan, Rachel died suddenly by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when there was still much ground before reaching Ephrath, and I was not able to take her to bury her in the double cave, and I buried her there in the way to Ephrath (the same is Beth-lehem).’

And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, ‘Who are these?

And Joseph said unto his father, ‘They are my sons, whom the word of the Lord hath given me according to the marriage contract, on the basis of which I took Asenath the daughter of Dinah, your daughter, to be my wife’. And he said, ‘Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them’.
