Summary

SFX: Sound of piano being played on record player

BOY: Heita Bra Zet!

BRA ZET: Heita sonnyboy!

GIRL: Heita Bra Zet!

BRA ZET: Heita sweetie-pie! Hoezit?

GIRL: Sweet.

BOY: We have brought you the stuff. And this, I promise you, is the best that you can get. Die beste!

BRA ZET: Good, sonnyboy. Roll us a nice big zol. A nice big one, and we are going to smoke until we are stoned dead.

BOY: Okay Bra Zet.

BRA ZET: When are they coming… the other boys and girls?

GIRL: They will be here soon, Bra Zet. And they will be bringing more stuff and drinks.

SFX: BRA ZET puffs a cigarette, and sighs with pleasure

BRA ZET: Ja … This is great stuff, sonny… Great stuff!

GIRL: Ja … You deserve the best, Bra Zet. You are the greatest.

BRA ZET [laughing]: Even though I am now a cripple?

BOY: Nothing can destroy you, Bra Zet. You are still the greatest! They thought they could destroy you when they shot you, but they don't know what's coming to them.

[BRA ZET laughs with pleasure]

You are still going to lead your gang again, Eh, Bra Zet? You are still going to pull the big jobs! You are still going to … I remember the days when you used to be the king of all the gangs. I know those days are not over…

CYNTHIA: Yes, they used to shower him with praises about his exploits in days gone by. Smoking zol after zol of dagga, those boys and girls, and showering him with praises. I could tell it was not mere flattery. Those boys and girls believed in Bra Zet.

I mean, he was a legend, and legends don't just die without even a whimper of a struggle.

[Sighing as if still lost in thought] Ja... Now what about my crocheting.
